Description

Hornby TT3056M TT Class A3 Steam Locomotive - 60103 Flying Scotsman Preserved, BR (Late), Ep. VI

Are you looking for a legendary steam locomotive for your TT:120 collection that impressively combines railway history with the fascination of model railroading? The Hornby TT3056M TT Class A3 Steam Locomotive - 60103 Flying Scotsman Preserved, BR (Late), Ep. VI brings one of the world’s most famous steam locomotives to your layout as a highly detailed model.

In this version, the “Flying Scotsman” is depicted in British Railways lined green, with the Lion and Wheel crest on the tender. This paint scheme matches the appearance the locomotive wears for special runs on main lines and operations on museum railroads.

Class A3 “Flying Scotsman” as a TT:120 Model

The model is based on the LNER Class A3 and features a die-cast undercarriage, a detailed cab interior, and numerous separately attached components. These include, among other things, boiler handrails, the boiler dome, safety valves, and air deflectors.

The powerful coreless motor drives the locomotive’s driving wheels. Power is drawn via the driving wheels and the tender wheels, ensuring the model is ready for reliable operation on TT layouts.

Digital Preparation in the Tender

The locomotive features a Next18 DCC decoder interface that is compatible with the HM7000 system. The interface is located in the tender and is therefore easily accessible. Additionally, space is provided for an HM7070 power bank to ensure uninterrupted operation.

Historical Prototype of the 60103 Flying Scotsman

The famous steam locomotive was built in 1923 at Doncaster Works as A1 No. 1472 and was the first locomotive delivered to the newly founded LNER. In 1924, it was given the name “Flying Scotsman,” after the express train running between London King’s Cross and Edinburgh Waverley.

Later, the locomotive bore the number 4472, was rebuilt as an A3 in 1947, and was privately preserved after being taken out of service in 1963. Today, it is part of the National Collection and, as No. 60103, can regularly be seen on main lines and at museum railroads. Get your hands on this exceptional TT:120 model and add a true railroad icon to your collection.
