DRG E88.2 with historical reference

The ongoing electrification of the Westbahn created a need for powerful electric freight locomotives. The electrical components for all 22 locomotives were supplied by AEG. The mechanical components for the first 15 units were manufactured by the StEG Locomotive Factory, while the remaining 7 units were built at the Floridsdorf Locomotive Factory.

The locomotives were used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as the E88.2. In the early 1950s, they returned to Austria, where they continued service as the Class 1280. All locomotives were eventually taken out of service by 1976. The E88 212 is therefore an exciting model for collectors and layout operators interested in early electric freight train traction.

AC-Digital with LED headlight mode switching

The model is digitally equipped and designed for the 3L AC system. Sound is not included in this version. The white light change creates an authentic effect during operation, while LED bulbs provide long-lasting and clear illumination.
