Historic freight train electric locomotive for alternating current operation: The Jägerndorfer Collection JC12802 H0 E88 212 Electric Locomotive, DRG, Era II, AC Sound brings a distinctive electric locomotive from the Deutsche Reichsbahn-Gesellschaft to your layout. With digital features, sound, LED lighting, and white headlight switching, this model is ideal for classic Era II freight train and Reichsbahn scenes.
The ongoing electrification of the Westbahn created a need for powerful electric freight locomotives. The electrical components for all 22 locomotives were supplied by AEG. The mechanical components of the first 15 locomotives were manufactured by the StEG Locomotive Factory, while the remaining 7 locomotives were produced by the Floridsdorf Locomotive Factory.
The locomotives were used by the Deutsche Reichsbahn as the E88.2. In the early 1950s, they returned to Austria, where they continued to be used as the Class 1280. By 1976, all locomotives had finally been taken out of service. This model of the E88 212 thus captures an exciting chapter in the history of early electric freight train traction.
The model is designed for the 3L AC system and comes equipped with digital sound. This makes the locomotive particularly suitable for layout operators who want to combine historical operation with an authentic acoustic atmosphere.
The white LED headlight provides an authentic lighting effect during operation. The NEM-compliant coupler shaft with KK kinematics allows for seamless integration into compatible H0 train sets.
Enhance your H0 layout with the Jägerndorfer Collection JC12802 E88 212 and create historic DRG electric locomotive scenes featuring sound, AC technology, and an authentic Era II look.
