Product Details

Under item number K10-2027, Kato presents a highly detailed model set consisting of four Rhaetian Railway (RhB) passenger cars, designed for Era VI. The models are built to exact N scale and are ideal for supplementing existing Glacier Express formations or for building a complete train set. The cars feature factory-installed interiors and are prepared for the retrofitting of interior lighting—a highlight for modelers who value atmospheric nighttime runs and realistic depictions.

Technical Specifications

The set is based on the direct current (DC) system and is specifically designed for N gauge. It is intended for model railroading enthusiasts aged 15 and older and offers a combination of robust construction and intricate detailing. The cars are equipped with the company’s proprietary coupler, which ensures a reliable connection between the cars and enables smooth operation.

Design & Workmanship

The cars feature true-to-life color schemes and highly detailed exterior designs. The windows are generously sized, just like on the Glacier Express prototype, to reflect the train’s panoramic character. Inside, the customized interior layout realistically replicates the seating arrangement. The meticulous craftsmanship is evident in the crisp printing, clean lines, and high-quality materials—typical of Kato.

Compatibility & Expansion

This four-piece set combines perfectly with other RhB cars or locomotives of the Ge 4/4 III series. It perfectly complements the Kato Glacier Express locomotive set (e.g., K10-2026) and can be functionally enhanced with additional interior lighting. This compact N-scale model set also looks great on smaller layouts and, thanks to its reliable coupler, provides a secure connection—even on tight curves.

Target Audience & Application

This model is aimed at enthusiasts of the Rhaetian Railway, collectors of modern Alpine trains, and ambitious N-scale modelers who value prototypical train sets. The combination of visual precision and technical expandability makes the set appealing to both experienced model railroaders and interested beginners aged 15 and up. This car set truly comes into its own when paired with a matching locomotive.
