The VT18.16 multiple units of the Deutsche Reichsbahn - later known as the BR 175 - were among the most prestigious vehicles in international transportation in the GDR. Manufactured from 1963 by VEB Waggonbau Görlitz, they were used on international routes to Scandinavia, Austria and Czechoslovakia. The Vindobona train, which transported passengers via Prague to Vienna, was particularly famous. The service officially ended in 1979 in this function before the trains continued to run to Karlsbad as Karlex and Karola.
The model is designed for the 2L direct current system (DC) and is built in N scale. It has a directional light change in white/red that is controlled by long-life LEDs. This model is not digitized and does not have a sound function. It is suitable for use on a minimum radius of 228 mm and is therefore compatible with all standard N-gauge layouts.
The Era VI version shows the VT18.16 as a museum or special vehicle, as it is maintained and used by railroad clubs today. This model thus combines the historical charm of a GDR classic with the contemporary era - a must for model railroaders with a focus on Eastern Bloc history and historical special runs.
The scope of delivery includes a 4-car DR VT18.16 multiple unit in N scale with LED light change.
