Kres 1956D 5-teiliger double-deckergliederzug DGB 12, DR, Ep. III (digital) Product Details

Description

About the model: The model is supplied with headlights that depend on the direction of travel, a 4-pole digital interface (solder pads), current pickup over all wheels of the two end cars and the intermediate cars following them.

All of the wheels are mounted on pointed bearings, which results in very good running characteristics for the train.

About the prototype: Due to the increased passenger volume in long-distance service, a total of 33 five-car double-decker link trains with high-level crossovers were built starting in 1957 in close cooperation between the German State Railroad and Waggonbau Görlitz. They consisted of two end cars, three middle cars and four intermediate cars. The intermediate spaces were sealed with elastic rubber bands. Bellows were used from 1960 onwards.

The double-decker articulated trains were later supplemented by five buffet cars and matching luggage cars, each with high gangways. The DR placed a buffet car between two double-decker trains and a luggage car at the end of the train, especially during the vacation season to the Baltic Sea. Later, five-car articulated trains were also used for commuter and local services.

They were taken out of service by the mid-1980s.
