About the prototype: The class 772 railcars were originally produced as the VT 2.09 series in the GDR in order to standardize rail traffic there, especially on branch lines. As the railcars performed this task excellently and the DB did not have sufficient capacity to serve all routes after the unification of the Reichsbahn and Bundesbahn, the railcars, which were developed in 1957 and built until 1968, were modernized and actively used until 2004. Some of the railcars were and are still in use around the world. For example, 22 of them went to Cuba and 16 to Romania, but they were also used in Spain and Brazil. However, these vehicles can no longer be properly repaired due to the lack of spare parts, which means that they also have to retire from service one by one.
About the model: Kres has dedicated a model to this well-traveled railcar, which has been in use for many decades and is visually and technically impressive. The visual appearance is impressive with an Era V paint scheme in DB AG red, which is complemented by precise printing. In addition, the model perfectly reproduces the structural details of the original, from the roof to the running gear. The interior is also impressive with a detailed reproduction of the interior fittings, which can be highlighted by the interior lighting. All lighting functions are implemented using low-maintenance LEDs, which always provide the right light color with high intensity. A modern bell-shaped armature motor ensures outstanding running characteristics and a high tractive force.
