About the prototype: The class 772 railcars were originally produced as the VT 2.09 series in the GDR in order to standardize rail traffic there, especially on branch lines. As the railcars performed this task excellently and the DB did not have sufficient capacity to serve all routes after the unification of the Reichsbahn and Bundesbahn, the railcars, which were developed in 1957 and built until 1968, were modernized and actively used until 2004. Some of the railcars were and are still in use around the world. For example, 22 of them went to Cuba and 16 to Romania, but they were also used in Spain and Brazil. However, these vehicles can no longer be properly repaired due to the lack of spare parts, which means that they also have to retire one by one.
About the model: This model from Kres reproduces one of the railcars that was in service for DB AG in Era V and therefore also has the traffic red livery of this period. This, as well as the printing, has been excellently modeled on the original. The model has a detailed interior, which can be highlighted by the switchable interior lighting. The model also captures the structural features of the original in an outstanding way. Various sound functions and a powerful, smooth-running bell-type armature motor round off this all-round successful model.
