Description

Kres 51047030 H0 BR 670 double-decker rail bus: Rare local transport vehicle from Era V

The Kres 51047030 H0 BR 670 double-decker rail bus is a faithful reproduction of a unique Deutsche Bahn rail vehicle. This model reproduces the 670 004-1 exactly in the condition of Era V and impresses with LED lighting, light changes and detailed interior fittings. A perfect choice for anyone looking for an unusual locomotive for their model railroad.

The prototype: The BR 670 double-decker rail bus

The BR 670 was developed in the early 1990s as an innovative local transport concept. The idea was to be able to transport more passengers on less frequented routes with a compact double-decker design. Despite the pioneering design, only six vehicles were built, of which the 670 004-1 reproduced here was used for a time by Deutsche Bahn AG (DBAG).

The characteristic large window front gave the rail bus a modern appearance and ensured a pleasant travel experience. Despite the promising design, the concept was not successful, which is why the BR 670 is now considered a rare collector's item.

Era V: The modernization of local transport

Era V (1990-2006) was characterized by far-reaching changes in the German railroad sector. Following the merger of the Deutsche Bundesbahn and the Deutsche Reichsbahn to form DBAG, intensive work was carried out on new vehicle concepts to make regional transport more economical and efficient. The BR 670 was an experimental vehicle of this era, but it did not go into series production.

Kres: High quality model making

The renowned manufacturer Kres is known for its faithful model replicas. The Kres 51047030 BR 670 double-decker rail bus impresses with precise printing, the finest detailing and excellent workmanship. The model is designed without digital equipment, but can be easily retrofitted thanks to the Next18 interface.

Technical features and functionality

The model has a length over buffers of 187 mm and is designed for operation with 2-wire direct current (DC). The light change in red and white ensures a realistic driving experience. LED interior lighting is also integrated to provide optimum illumination of the passenger compartment.

The minimum radius for driving operation is 362 mm, making the model also suitable for smaller layouts. Thanks to the Next18 interface, it can be digitized at a later date.

Design and color scheme

The model is painted in the DBAG's Era V livery and bears the true-to-original road number 670 004-1. The large window areas provide a realistic representation of the interior, while the fine printing emphasizes the vehicle's attention to detail.

Possible uses on the model railway layout

The BR 670 double-decker rail bus is ideal for branch lines and shuttle services. Thanks to its compact design, it can be used on smaller model railway layouts and is an excellent addition to modern stations or rural stops.

Care and maintenance

The model should be cleaned regularly to ensure optimum power consumption. The LED lighting is maintenance-free, but the axles and wheel contacts should be checked and cleaned occasionally.

Conclusion: A unique model for modern layouts

The Kres 51047030 H0 BR 670 double-decker rail bus is a fascinating replica of a rare Deutsche Bahn vehicle. With its high-quality workmanship, realistic lighting and the option of digitalization, this model is a great addition to any era V layout.
