Description

Kres 51047031 H0 BR 670 double-decker railbus: Unique Era V commuter railcar

The Kres 51047031 H0 BR 670 double-decker rail bus is a faithful reproduction of an innovative Deutsche Bahn railcar from the 1990s. With modern DC digital technology, LED lighting and red-white light change, this model is the ideal addition to all model railway layouts of era V.

The prototype: The BR 670 double-decker rail bus

The class 670 was developed in the early 1990s as an innovative solution for less frequented routes. The aim was to use the double-decker design to increase capacity in a compact space and make regional transport more efficient.

Of the total of six vehicles built, the 670 004-1 shown here was used by Deutsche Bahn AG (DBAG) in Era V. The eye-catching design with the large window front provided a modern appearance, but was not able to establish itself in long-term operation. Today, the BR 670 is considered a rare and unusual vehicle in the railroad industry.

Era V: The modernization of regional transport

Era V (1990-2006) was a time of change, during which the Deutsche Bundesbahn and Deutsche Reichsbahn merged to form Deutsche Bahn AG. During this phase, many new vehicle concepts were tested in order to make local transport more economical. The BR 670 was one such experiment which, despite its innovative design, did not go into series production.

Kres: Precise model technology with digital functions

The manufacturer Kres is known for its exact replicas of rare traction units. The Kres 51047031 BR 670 double-decker railbus impresses with its detailed design, realistic color scheme and digital control, which is made possible via the Next18 interface.

Technical equipment and functionality

The rail bus has a length over buffers of 187 mm and is designed for operation with 2-wire direct current (DC digital). The digital control system enables precise running characteristics and exact light control. The light change in red and white ensures a realistic driving experience.

The model also has LED interior lighting that provides atmospheric illumination of the passenger compartment. The minimum radius is 362 mm so that the model can be used on standard model railroad tracks without any problems.

Design and color scheme

The model is painted in the DBAG's Era V livery and has the true-to-original road number 670 004-1. The detailed reproduction of the window front, the realistic interior design and the precise printing ensure an authentic look.

Possible uses on the model railway layout

The BR 670 double-decker rail bus is perfect for regional and commuter services on branch lines. Thanks to its compact design, it is also ideal for smaller model railway layouts. This model is particularly effective in combination with modern stations or rural stops.

Care and maintenance

To keep the model in perfect condition in the long term, it should be cleaned regularly. The LED lighting is maintenance-free, but the axles and wheel contacts should be checked and cleaned occasionally to ensure optimum current consumption.

Conclusion: An exceptional model for modern layouts

The Kres 51047031 H0 BR 670 double-decker rail bus is a rare and fascinating addition to any model railway layout of era V. With its digital control, realistic lighting and detailed reproduction, this model offers a great driving experience for model railroaders looking for an exceptional railcar solution.
