Kuehn 32826 electric locomotive BR 180 'Knödelpresse', DR, Ep. V (analog) Product Details

Description

About the model: The BR 180 electric locomotive (also affectionately known as the "dumpling press") is in the design of the German State Railroad and comes from Era V. It is 140 mm long and is distinguished, among other things, by its true-to-the-original red paint scheme.

About the prototype: A dual-system locomotive was needed for cross-border traffic between Berlin/Dresden. It was developed and built by Skoda. The prototype of the "dumpling press" was put into service by the DR as the BR230 in 1988. It was not until early 1991 that series deliveries of 20 locomotives to the DR and 15 locomotives to the CSD were made. The locomotives of the CD bear the series number 372. The main area of use for these dual-system locomotives is train service. After a short period of use, the DR locomotives were given the designation BR180 at the beginning of 1992. The "dumpling press" can be found in front of passenger and freight trains. The universally usable locomotive with its unmistakable exterior will be delivered by kuehn-modell first in the version as BR180 of the DR and as BR372 of the CD.
