With the Lenz 42260-09, the manufacturer is bringing a prototypically designed model of the DB Cargo Shimmns 708 telescopic hood wagon in Era V to the 0-gauge layout. The wagon impresses with its high level of detail, precise printing and realistic realization of the typical design - including the striking three telescopic hoods, which, however, cannot be moved on the model for production reasons.
Since the 1970s, the rail industry has relied on special flat wagons with telescopic hoods for transporting steel coils. These sensitive, coiled steel coils must be protected from moisture in order to prevent corrosion damage. The solution: the Shis 708, marketed as Shimmns 708 from 1987. In the original, the three hood segments can be moved to allow access to the five loading recesses in the wagon floor. A total of over 2,500 units were built for the Deutsche Bundesbahn, plus many more for European railroad companies. The Lenz model is based exactly on this prototype - with accurate implementation in 0 gauge and matching DB Cargo Epoch V lettering.
The wagon has finely engraved structures, authentic paintwork and is exactly to scale. The hoods are not movable on the model, which benefits the detailing and stability. Ideally suited as a single wagon or in a formation with other steel transport wagons, the Shimmns 708 fits perfectly into modern freight train compositions.
With the Lenz 42260-09 Shimmns 708 telescopic hood wagon, you can bring a piece of modern freight transportation history to your gauge 0 layout. A must for anyone who wants to depict authentic industrial and railroad logistics of Era V. Secure it now and professionally expand your freight train fleet!
