The Märklin Ge 2/4 electric loc omotive (item number 24451) is a detailed reproduction of the famous Swiss electric locomotive of the Rhaetian Railroad (RhB). With its historic design and state-of-the-art digital technology, this model combines the charm of bygone times with the requirements of modern model railroads.
The RhB purchased seven locomotives of the Ge 2/4 series in 1913. These compact electric locomotives were considered a technical innovation, but were not free of problems in the electrical system. Of the original machines, three were converted into shunting locomotives (Nos. 211-213) and two were thoroughly modernized. The modernized locomotives 221 and 222 received more powerful traction motors, resistance brakes and were able to reach a top speed of 55 km/h with 428 kW (582 HP). The Ge 2/4 No. 222 was preserved as a museum locomotive and is still used today on the RhB's main network for special trips.
The model of the Ge 2/4 no. 222 in Era VI impresses with its precise reproduction and technical refinements:
The locomotive combines historical precision and technical innovation. It can be used on the entire RhB model railroad layout and enriches special runs with its authenticity and variety of functions.
The Märklin 24451 Ge 2/4 electric locomotive is a model with great historical significance and modern functionality. Its attention to detail, the high-quality materials and the numerous digital features make it a highlight of every G model railroad layout.
