RhB Cement Silo Cars

Between 1956 and 1964, 70 of the type Uc dust silo cars were procured in various construction series. Particularly due to the construction of power plants in the mountains in the 1960s, the transport of cement became increasingly important, as large quantities had to be transported. With the previously usual transport in paper sacks, a loss of 10% had to be reckoned with, plus the time-consuming reloading procedure. With a tare weight of 8.5 tons, these wagons could carry 15 tons of dusty cargo. They were loaded at a silo directly from above by gravity, unloading was pneumatic, and the 15 tons were unloaded in 15 minutes.
