The prototype: The StLB locomotive 93

The locomotive with the original designation 378.120 was built in 1928 by the Wiener Lokomotivfabrik Floridsdorf (WLF) under the factory number 2980. It was initially used by BBÖ as 378.120 and later by DRB/ÖBB as 93.1420. In 1966, the Steiermärkische Landesbahnen (StLB) acquired the locomotive from the ÖBB. The tender body was removed and the locomotive was repainted with decorative lines and red wheel disks. Its main area of use was the Gleisdorf - Weiz line. In 1987, it was handed over to the company Brenner & Brenner and has belonged to the Neue Landesbahn (NLB) association since 2011.
