With the Liliput L131508 H0 steam locomotive 42 1486, Liliput presents an impressively staged model of a heavily damaged freight locomotive from the period immediately after the Second World War. The class 42 locomotive in Era II is painted in winter camouflage with clear traces of destruction and decay - a highly detailed model without drive, electronics or lighting. This special collector's item not only brings historical authenticity to the layout, but also arouses emotions and invites you to depict a dramatic chapter in railroad history.
After the end of hostilities in 1945, war-damaged locomotives were collected from all over Europe, assessed and in some cases repaired. However, many could no longer be repaired economically. The locomotive shown here with the road number 42 1486 is one of the machines that was consigned to the scrap yard. Bullet holes, smashed windows, heavy traces of rust and missing components make it clear that this locomotive has reached the end of its road.
The model has been individually aged and rusted by hand, making each one unique. The winter camouflage with faded, dirty colors gives the locomotive a realistic appearance in the style of the last days of the war. In combination with the damage, the locomotive looks like it has been taken from a historical black and white photo - a real eye-catcher in any display case or on a diorama.
With a length over buffers of 268 mm, the model is ideal for depicting parked locomotives in a railroad depot, on a siding or in a scrap yard module. This model can also be used in combination with other destroyed vehicles or as a contrast to freshly refurbished machines to create a harmonious and emotional scene.
