WestfalenBahn GmbH (WFB) was founded in 2005 and is a German rail transport company based in Bielefeld. Since its foundation, it has been using modern multiple-unit trains for regional transport. Among other things, 14 three-car electric multiple-unit trains of the FLIRT (Fast Light Innovative Regional Train) type from Stadler are in use on the approximately 300-kilometer route network. These vehicles reach a maximum speed of up to 160 km/h on main lines and 140 km/h on secondary lines.
The FLIRT multiple units procured in 2007 were in use on the Teutoburg Forest network until December 2017, before being taken over by the new operator Eurobahn. Since then, they have been gradually adapted to the new interior and exterior design. The present model corresponds to the operating status of 2008 and bears the train destination display "RB66 Münster Hbf".
WestfalenBahn was an independent company until 2017, when it was taken over by Berlin-based Abellio GmbH. It operates local trains in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony, particularly on important commuter routes between Osnabrück, Münster, Bielefeld and Herford. The use of modern multiple-unit trains such as the FLIRT enables WestfalenBahn to offer reliable and comfortable connections with a high level of efficiency.

With a length over buffers of 638 mm, the model is ideal for layouts with limited space and can be used on a minimum radius of 360 mm.
The multiple unit is designed in the typical WestfalenBahn colors. The precise printing with the train number ET 004 and the road numbers 0427 112-8, 0827 112-4 and 0427 612-7 ensures a look that is true to the original. The train destination display "RB66 Münster Hbf" rounds off the detailed design. The interior design is also prototypical and reflects the comfort of modern commuter trains.
