WestfalenBahn GmbH (WFB) was founded in 2005 and quickly established itself as an important player in German regional transport. Today, the company is part of Berlin-based Abellio GmbH and operates a route network of around 300 kilometers in North Rhine-Westphalia and Lower Saxony. To ensure reliable and modern transportation, 14 three-car electric multiple-unit trains of the FLIRT (Fast Light Innovative Regional Train) type were purchased from Stadler. These vehicles reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h on main lines, while on other routes they travel at up to 140 km/h.
The FLIRT multiple units procured in 2007 were in use on the Teutoburg Forest network until the timetable change in December 2017, before being taken over by the new operator Eurobahn. Since then, they have been gradually adapted to the new interior and exterior design.
WestfalenBahn operates important commuter routes between Osnabrück, Münster, Herford and Bielefeld. With the FLIRT multiple-unit train, it relies on modern vehicles with high energy efficiency, a comfortable passenger area and a well thought-out range of seats. The use of these multiple units has made a significant contribution to improving mobility in the region.

The multiple unit is designed for alternating current (AC) operation and is equipped with a modern ESU LokPilot digital decoder. It supports the Motorola/Märklin format as well as mfx, which allows easy integration into digital model railroad systems.
The interior lighting ensures a realistic representation of the passenger area. The multiple unit has a current-carrying coupling that ensures a safe power supply for the entire unit. The model can also be switched to overhead line operation, making it flexible for use on different layouts.
The lighting includes a three-pointed headlight and two direction-dependent marker lights. With a length over buffers of 638 mm, the model is compact enough for smaller layouts, but still offers the elegance and realism of a modern regional train. Please note that full functionality is not guaranteed on Märklin M track.
The model is designed in the original colors of the WestfalenBahn and has the road numbers 0427 112-8, 0827 112-4 and 0427 612-7. The fine printing with the train destination display "RB66 Münster Hbf" gives the model a high degree of authenticity. The interior has also been reproduced in great detail to realistically reproduce the comfort and functionality of the original.

To keep the model in perfect condition over the long term, it should be cleaned regularly. Dust can be carefully removed with a soft brush or compressed air spray. The moving parts, especially couplings and drives, should be checked at regular intervals and lubricated with special model railway oil.
