Description

The 628 series is a series of two-part diesel multiple units operated by Deutsche Bahn AG, consisting of one motor car (628) and control car (928) or, in the case of a few vehicles, two motor cars (629 series). In the German vehicle register, the series number 95 80 0628 was assigned to these vehicles. These vehicles are used throughout Germany in local transport on secondary and subordinate main lines. They are regarded as the successors to the rail buses and, like these, are often referred to as branch line rescuers.
