The Liliput L235788 H0 transport car with Strüver “ELAN” tank trailer is a historically inspired model that recreates the fascinating intersection between road and rail freight transport during Era IV. The ÖBB Type 977 transport car with road number 977 0 000-4 is loaded with a restored Strüver Monotank trailer, featuring the classic color scheme of the ELAN mineral oil company—a true eye-catcher with nostalgic appeal.
The Hamburg-based company Ad. Strüver developed the “Monotank” trailer starting in 1961 as a modern solution for transporting liquid goods. With its unique design, it was used for the safe transport of fuels and milk—both on the road and by rail. The ELAN tank trailer depicted in this model was preserved and restored in Austria—now Liliput is bringing this special piece of technological history back to the model railroad as a cargo item.
The special transport car, with a length over the buffers of 152 mm, provides the ideal platform for the Strüver tank trailer. The ELAN lettering is applied with razor-sharp precision, and the car’s chassis is finely detailed. The combination of the rail car and the tank trailer creates an authentic depiction of a transport that was a common sight at rail yards and oil companies from the 1960s through the 1980s.
The model is perfect for scenes featuring tank farms, loading yards, or industrial spur tracks. When combined with other tank cars or thematically matching freight trains, it becomes a harmonious part of a historically accurate model railroad world. The ELAN tanker trailer impressively rounds out the Strüver variant series.
