The Liliput L260220 N 2-part set of Uagpps grain transport wagons of the BDZ brings the important bulk goods traffic of the Bulgarian State Railway (BDZ) to the model railway layout. These detailed self-unloading wagons are a perfect addition to modern freight trains of eras V and VI and impress with their true-to-original lettering, intricate details and high-quality running characteristics.
The 4-axleUagpps type self-unloading wagons were specially developed for the transportation of hygroscopic bulk goods such as grain, corn, soybeans or sunflower seeds. The wagons are equipped with a special internal coating that ensures contamination-free transportation of foodstuffs. Thanks to their robust construction, they are used throughout Europe for agricultural transportation.
The BDZ (Bulgarian State Railways) operates a large number of these wagons, which are mainly used in the international grain trade. Bulgaria is one of the major agricultural producers in Eastern Europe, which is why rail transport plays a central role in the distribution of the harvest. The wagons have a sliding roof for easy loading using a bulk hopper and gravity unloading, which enables fast unloading at special grain silos.
Eras V and VI (from 1990 to the present day) are characterized by the privatization and modernization of many state railroads in Europe. The BDZ also adapted its wagon material to modern standards. Each wagon in the set has a length over buffers of 96 mm and is equipped with an NEM 355 coupler pocket and close coupler kinematics. These ensure safe operation and enable problem-free combination with other wagons.
The wagons have a detailed representation of the unloading equipment as well as prototypical color aging, which underlines the realistic use in grain transport. The fine lettering with the road numbers 9338 885-8 and 9338 897-3 corresponds exactly to the BDZ prototypes in 2006 operating condition.
The cars are painted brown, which is typical for BDZ grain transport cars. The applied car numbers and lettering are crisp and correspond to the standards of Era V-VI. The reproduction of closures, reinforcements and roof structures ensures a particularly realistic appearance.
The set is ideal for freight trains in international bulk goods traffic. It can be used in block trains with several Uagpps wagons as well as in mixed agricultural transportation. These wagons are particularly effective on lines serving ports, grain silos or agricultural industries.
To ensure that the model remains in perfect condition in the long term, it should be cleaned regularly. Dust can be carefully removed with a soft brush or compressed air spray. The axles and couplings should be checked occasionally and lubricated with special model railroad oil.
