The Märklin 36217 class 216 diesel locomotive brings the charm of the 1990s to your H0 layout. In a purple-red paint scheme and with the operating condition of the Deutsche Bahn AG around 1995, this model is not only an attractive eye-catcher, but also technically well equipped. As a new entry-level model, it offers an excellent combination of attention to detail, digital technology and solid performance.
The locomotive is based on the prototype of the class 216, a universally deployable diesel locomotive that was used in DB AG passenger and freight services until the late 1990s. The model reproduces this classic in the typical purple-red livery - a striking feature of that time.
Equipped with an mfx digital decoder and extensive sound functions, the locomotive brings realistic sound to your layout. From engine noise and signal horns to additional functions, everything is included to make the hearts of digital model railroaders beat faster. The controlled high-performance drive powers two axles, with traction tires providing the necessary tractive force.
Another highlight is the three-light headlight signal that changes depending on the direction of travel. This works automatically in analog operation and can be switched separately in digital mode. The model also has a double A light function - ideal for use in push-pull operation. The locomotive is illuminated by long-life, maintenance-free warm white LEDs.
With a length over buffers of 18.2 cm, the locomotive is ideal for small to medium-sized layouts. Thanks to its universal design, it can be used in front of passenger trains as well as in freight traffic - a flexible powerhouse for a variety of scenarios in the DB environment of Era V.
