With the Märklin 37897 class 50 steam locomotive, Märklin is offering a detailed model of one of the most important freight locomotives of the German Federal Railroad in Era III. The class 50 was built in the years beginning in 1939 and developed into one of the most frequently built standard locomotives in Germany with over 3,100 units. It was characterized by versatility, reliability and a robust design - characteristics that are perfectly reflected in this model.

The locomotive appears in the typical Era III design of the German Federal Railroad and impresses with its metal body and numerous applied details. One highlight is the openwork bar frame, which gives the model not only technical but also visual authenticity. The controlled high-performance drive with flywheel mass in the boiler drives five axles powerfully and ensures excellent driving characteristics - even under load.

The model is technically equipped with an mfx+ decoder, which offers extensive sound functions and digitally switchable cab lighting. The lighting is provided by maintenance-free warm white LEDs and includes a three-light headlight signal depending on the direction of travel. A steam generator can be retrofitted (can be used conventionally and can be controlled digitally). The locomotive and tender are connected by a close coupler with kinematics that can be adjusted according to the track radius; there are also NEM coupler pockets with kinematics at the front of the locomotive and at the rear of the tender.

With a length over buffers of 264 mm and a minimum radius of 360 mm, the model is ideal for all classic H0 layouts. Piston rod protection tubes and brake hoses are included with the model and underline the high-quality overall impression.
