Historical background

The S 2/6 express locomotive was built by Maffei for the Bavarian State Railway in 1905. With a top speed of 150 km/h, it was far ahead of its time. Despite its short time in service, it is considered a milestone in locomotive technology. It has been on display at the Nuremberg Transport Museum since 1925 and is considered an icon of Bavarian engineering.
