An American in France!

After World War II, the European vehicle industry was in ruins, and France in particular had a shortage of operational locomotives. The French government therefore turned to the USA to procure powerful steam locomotives. The result was the 141.R. series, of which 700 were delivered in an initial batch. These locomotives met French standards and could be used universally.

Steam locomotive with oil tender 141.R.1244 for mixed operation, in the optical condition of the French State Railways (SNCF). The locomotive is currently in operational condition and is housed at the Mikado 1244 Association in Brugg, Switzerland.
