Description

Märklin 38800 H0 Class 186 Electric Locomotive: Modern Era VI All-Round Locomotive

The Märklin 38800 H0 class 186 electric locomotive is an impressive reproduction of the modern multi-system electric locomotive of the Deutsche Bahn AG (DB AG). With its traffic red paint scheme and road number 186 339-8, it reflects the operating condition as of 2019. This model impresses with its high-quality metal design, modern technology and numerous details that make it a highlight for any H0 model railway layout.

The prototype: Class 186 electric locomotive

The class 186 belongs to the TRAXX family from Bombardier and is designed as a multi-system locomotive for international freight and passenger traffic. With its ability to operate in Germany, Belgium and France, it is a prime example of cross-border mobility. The traffic red paint scheme and the technical equipment make the class 186 a versatile workhorse in modern rail traffic.

Märklin - precision and innovation

This model is a completely new design and impresses with its highly detailed metal construction. With an mfx+ decoder and extensive operating and sound functions, the class 186 offers a realistic driving experience. The separately digitally controllable cab and cab lighting, the switchable high beam headlights, and the detailed roof superstructure with newly constructed pantographs emphasize the high quality and attention to detail of this model.

Technical Highlights of the Märklin 38800

The locomotive is equipped with controlled high-efficiency propulsion that is installed centrally and drives all four axles via cardan shafts. Traction tires provide optimum traction. The triple headlights and the two red marker lights change over with the direction of travel and can be controlled digitally. The high beam, the double A light function and special shunting and special signals for Belgium and France can also be controlled separately. The lighting is provided by maintenance-free warm white and red LEDs, and a buffer memory ensures uninterrupted operation.

Flexibility and expansion options

The model has many separately attached parts such as grab rails, sandboxes and UIC sockets. The four newly designed pantographs are equipped with different contact strips to allow operation in different countries. Separately attachable brake lines, screw couplings, sockets and closed rail scrapers increase the level of detail. With a length over buffers of 21.7 cm and a buffer height according to NEM, the locomotive fits perfectly on modern H0 layouts. Freight cars for Era VI to go with this locomotive are available in the Märklin H0 assortment.

Recommendation for Model Railroaders

The Märklin 38800 H0 class 186 electric locomotive is a must-have for all fans of modern multi-system locomotives and international freight service. With its technical sophistication, high-quality workmanship and extensive functions, it is a real highlight for any layout.
