Description

Märklin 39133 H0 Class 151 Electric Locomotive: The Legend of Heavy Freight Traffic

The Märklin 39133 H0 Class 151 electric locomotive is a detailed reproduction of the Deutsche Bahn AG heavy freight locomotive. With its traffic red paint scheme and numerous technical refinements, it reflects the operating condition as of 2008. This model shows the Era VI version with single-arm pantographs and modern equipment that characterized this locomotive until its end of service at DB Cargo in 2024.

The prototype: Class 151 - power and reliability

The class 151 was developed in the 1970s to meet the increased demands of heavy goods traffic. It combined the strength of the 150 series with the speed of the 140 series. With 170 units built, it was the backbone of heavy goods transport in Germany for decades. After various paint schemes, from chrome oxide green to ocean blue/beige to oriental red, it received its modern appearance in a traffic red design.

Märklin - Innovation and attention to detail

This model is an exact reproduction of the Era VI version of the class 151. It has an impressive high-quality metal design, numerous separately applied details, and the latest digital technology. The mfx+ decoder enables extensive light and sound functions, while the newly designed single-arm pantographs can be raised and lowered digitally. The cab and engine room lighting as well as the starting lamp that depends on the direction of travel provide additional authenticity.

Technical Highlights of the Märklin 39133

The locomotive has controlled high-efficiency propulsion that is installed centrally and drives two axles in each bogie via cardan shafts. Traction tires provide optimum traction. The triple headlights and dual red marker lights can be controlled digitally. The double A-light function, the cab and engine room lighting and the digital control of the pantographs make the model stand out technically. The buffer tank ensures uninterrupted operation.

Flexibility and expansion options

The model has many separately applied parts such as imitation wheels, grab rails and roof lines. Brake lines, screw couplings and sockets are included as separately attachable parts. With a length over buffers of 22.4 cm and a buffer height according to NEM, the locomotive fits perfectly on modern H0 layouts. Freight cars to go with this locomotive are available in the Märklin H0 assortment under item number 46670.
