The Märklin 39535 class 52 steam locomotive with a rigid frame tender is more than just a model - it is a piece of moving railroad history in H0. As the most frequently built locomotive series in Europe, the class 52 is symbolic of the technical and logistical challenges of the Second World War. The Märklin model with the road number 52 6884 represents a version with the distinctive rigid frame tender as it was used by the German Federal Railroad (DB) around 1951 - ideal for demanding model railroaders with an interest in history.
From 1942, over 7,000 class 52 locomotives left the workshops. It was designed for maximum simplicity and robustness in war service. The variant reproduced here with the Viennese rigid frame tender is rarer than the typical tub tender version, but technically no less fascinating. It had wheelsets firmly mounted in the frame and was designed to save on materials - a product of its time, but also a technical testimony to high efficiency.
The model shows the locomotive in operating condition around 1951 with a black base color, red running gear parts, Witte wind deflectors and solid wheels in the leading frame. The detailed design includes piston rod protection tubes, brake hoses and imitation screw couplings (included for assembly). With a length over buffers of 26.4 cm and the characteristic look, this model is an eye-catcher on any H0 layout.
Equipped with an mfx+ digital decoder and extensive sound functions, the BR 52 offers an intensive driving experience. The controlled high-performance drive with flywheel drives five axles powerfully. The LED lighting includes a direction-dependent head signal and digitally switchable cab lighting. A 7226 smoke unit can be retrofitted and digitally controlled for additional realism.
The locomotive and tender are largely made of metal - a guarantee for high stability and weight. The close coupler with kinematics ensures a close, prototypical connection between locomotive and tender. Thanks to the buffer height according to NEM and a minimum radius of only 360 mm, the model can be used on many layouts without any problems.
Included is the fully assembled class 52 steam locomotive with rigid frame tender, mfx+ digital decoder, LED lighting, sound functions, couplers according to NEM and extensive accessories (e.g. brake hoses, screw couplers). The model is ready for immediate use on digital layouts.
The Märklin 39535 is a must for anyone who wants to add a model that is steeped in history and technically sophisticated to their Era III layout. Now available in the model railroad store - get this highlight of German railroad technology!
