With the Märklin 39811 RABe 501 "Giruno" in H0, Märklin is providing an absolute highlight for all fans of modern multiple units. The seven-car high-speed train of the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) sets new standards in comfort, technology and international usability. The model is equipped with a comprehensive function package - including AC-mfx sound decoder, true-to-scale design and digitally switchable light and sound functions. Experience the "Giruno" - also known as the EC 250 - on your layout with all the refinements of the original.
The RABe 501 "Giruno" is an electric high-speed train operated by SBB on the Gotthard base route between Switzerland, Italy, Germany and Austria. Developed by Stadler Rail, the train meets the highest standards of accessibility, speed and energy efficiency. Its panoramic windows, modern design and use as a cross-border EuroCity train are particularly striking.
The Märklin 39811 multiple unit train is based on the prototype in H0 scale (1:87) with a large number of technical details. The basic set includes seven cars, including 1st and 2nd class and a restaurant car. The central drive is located in the dining car G, which supplies power to both sides via cardan drives on the Jakobs bogies F and H. This means that the train offers the best running characteristics even on demanding layouts.
This model is to scale and technically up to date: modern lighting technology, digitally controllable functions such as pantographs and interior lighting as well as powerful propulsion characterize this model. The elaborate paint scheme with a Switzerland/Italy motif on the end cars is also particularly noteworthy - a real highlight in the train set.
Yes, the built-in mfx sound decoder allows full digital control. Both light and sound functions, cab lighting, head signals and pantographs can be individually controlled via the appropriate digital control units.
The entire train has continuous interior lighting, which is supplied via the electrical connection of all carriages. In addition, the driver's cab and driver's desks can be illuminated separately - perfect for atmospheric night journeys or prototypical train presentations.
The Giruno requires a minimum radius of 360 mm. It can therefore be used on many standard H0 layouts. Thanks to the Jakobs bogies and the baffle guide, it still offers excellent running characteristics in tight radii.
It is currently a 7-car basic set. Whether an extension with additional carriages is planned for the future depends on the manufacturer. However, the existing composition is complete and corresponds to the original train in a shortened, operationally useful representation.
The Märklin 39811 RABe 501 "Giruno" is a must for all model railroaders who want to enrich their H0 layout with a modern, international high-speed train. With its many digitally controllable functions, powerful central motor, outstanding appearance and attention to detail as well as the high-quality interior and lighting equipment, it is a true technological jewel. A model that brings modern railroad history perfectly to the layout - get it now and enter the world of the EC 250!
