The Märklin 42491 Express Train Car Set 1 brings the stylish long-distance service of the postwar era to your H0 layout. It shows the famous D 74 Hamburg-Altona - Basel SBB express train as it ran around 1955 on the Frankfurt - Basel section of the route. With four precisely executed coaches in full length scale, LED interior lighting and current-carrying couplers, this set is ideal for fans of Era III.
The D 74 express train connected the north of Germany with Switzerland and ran an interesting mix of different types of coaches. The set includes:
This combination reflects the typical comfort and travel culture of the 1950s.
All of the cars are full-scale and have warm white LED interior lighting as standard. The ABC4ü car is equipped with a pickup shoe for current pickup, which supplies the entire train set via current-carrying close coupler heads. The sequence of the cars is permanently defined and allows a realistic representation of the train run.
The baggage/mail car is equipped with a current-carrying coupling on the baggage compartment side and a standard coupling for low buffer height on the locomotive side. All of the other cars are completely equipped with current-conducting coupler heads. Interchangeable bellows, printed train running signs and serial numbers round off the set visually.
This set is an ideal match for the Märklin class 01.10 steam locomotive with new boiler (item no. 39105). The 42533 and 42526 extension car sets can be used to reproduce the D 74 train completely and prototypically - for an authentic Era III train composition.
The set includes four express train cars in full scale with LED interior lighting, current-carrying close couplers, a pickup shoe (on the ABC4ü) for the power supply, bellows replacement parts, train running signs and a leporello with a train overview. Total length over buffers: approx. 103 cm.
The Märklin 42491 express train car set is a successful combination of technology, design, and historical authenticity. Ideal for model railroaders who want to bring the travel culture of the 1950s to life on their layout. Secure it now and build stylish express train operation!
