With the Märklin 42526 C4ü Express Train Car, you can expand your historic D 74 express train with an authentic third-class car. This full-scale model depicts a four-axle standard-type car from the 1928–1930 series, as it was used around 1955 on the Frankfurt–Basel SBB route. Ideal for anyone who wants to complete their train set in true historical style.

The Prototype – 3rd-Class Comfort of the 1950s

The C4ü was a typical express train car of the Deutsche Bundesbahn in the postwar era and defined long-distance travel during Era III. Used on the D 74 express train between Hamburg-Altona and Basel SBB, it enabled travel with affordable comfort on international routes. The model features the classic green color scheme and bears the appropriate serial numbers and route signs.

Technically sophisticated with interior lighting

The car is equipped with standard LED interior lighting (warm white), which is powered via the current-carrying close couplers in the train set. Power is supplied by the ABC4ü car from Set 42491, which features a collector. The lighting system is equipped with a buffer capacitor, ensuring that the lighting remains flicker-free—even during brief interruptions in contact.

A perfect fit for the D 74

The model follows a defined car sequence within the train set and can be combined with sets 42491 and 42533 to form a complete, prototypical 1950s express train. An enclosed fold-out sheet shows the correct positioning within the train. The minimum negotiable curve radius is 360 mm—ideal for classic H0 layouts.
