The Märklin 42831 Dm 903 baggage car brings the classic look of the City-Bahn from the late 1980s to your H0 model railroad. In its distinctive “DB Expressdienst” livery, this car is an excellent addition to the City-Bahn passenger cars (e.g., 43833, 43835) and expands your train set with an authentic, functional car—impressive both visually and technically.

The Prototype—Baggage Cars in Regional Service

The Dm 903 was used as a baggage car for commuter and express service. In the variant for the Cologne–Gummersbach City-Bahn, this car took on the role of express service starting in 1987—whether for baggage, express freight, or mail. The distinctive lettering and the painted window trim immediately identify the car as part of the City-Bahn era.

Technically Prepared for Customization

The baggage car is equipped with Minden-Deutz heavy-duty bogies (Type 330), including a double-block brake. For ambitious model railroading enthusiasts, the model offers numerous retrofit options: interior lighting (Part No. 73400/73401, 2x), tail light board (73410/73411), collector (73406), and current-carrying couplers (Item No. 7319 or 72022). This makes the car ideal for integration into existing layouts.

Detailed and true to scale

The car features a type-specific underbody design and is built to a 1:87 scale with a length over buffers of approximately 28.2 cm. The minimum negotiable radius is 360 mm, allowing the car to be used without any problems even on compact layouts. The matching E700580 DC wheel set is available separately for DC operation.

Matching Accessories

Combine the Dm 903 baggage car with the matching City-Bahn cars (43833, 43835) and the corresponding BR 218 diesel locomotive (Item No. 39228) to create a complete train set in the style of the late 1980s—true to the original, color-coordinated, and functionally expandable.
