The Märklin 43453 add-on car set expands the modern SBB RABe 501 "Giruno" high-speed multiple unit with two additional center cars. These cars, reproduced to scale, correspond to the 1st class cars J (A4) and K (A3) and complete the basic set as well as other extension sets to form a complete 11-piece unit. With built-in LED interior lighting and detailed realization, the model is the highlight of every modern H0 layout.

Prototype and use

The RABe 501 "Giruno" is the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) high-speed train for international long-distance services. It runs with the EC 151 from Frankfurt am Main via Freiburg, Basel and Zurich to Milano Centrale. The model depicts the train number RABe 501 022, which bears the coat of arms of the canton of Vaud and is reproduced in operating condition around 2024. It thus reflects the cross-border traffic between Germany, Switzerland and Italy in a prototypical manner.

Model highlights

The two additional coaches are fitted with LED interior lighting as standard, which is operated with maintenance-free, warm white LEDs. This is supplied via the continuous electrical connection of the entire train and is only functional and digitally switchable in conjunction with the basic set. Both center cars are permanently coupled together, have a guide mechanism in the Jakobs bogies and are reproduced to scale.

Technical features

The car set is designed for a minimum radius of 360 mm. The length of the pair of cars is 40.2 cm. The precise lettering, the scale reproduction, and the technical equipment with LED interior lighting make this add-on set a valuable addition to the Märklin "Giruno".
