The refrigerator car with the cover of the Märklin catalog from 1933 is a tribute to a decisive year in the history of Märklin. The focus of the 1933 catalog was the introduction of the legendary SBB Ce 6/8 II crocodile, which was available at that time in 0 and 1 gauge as a thin sheet metal miniature under the famous item numbers CCS 66/12920 and 12921. This Märklin heraldic animal made its mark on the toy world and is still highly sought after by collectors today.
It was unique that the crocodile was only available in green coloring at Märklin at that time, although it also existed in brown in reality. In addition to the crocodile, the painting in the catalog also shows the famous "Flying Hamburger", another Märklin bestseller at the time. In addition, a class 01 express locomotive is depicted leading a high-quality express train. Interestingly, the class 01 was also available from Märklin in green, although this color scheme never existed in the prototype.
The painting on the refrigerator car is so detailed that it was cut in half for the depiction on the model car. Each side of the car shows one half of the painting to emphasize the many small details even better.
