With the Märklin 46146 Slag Car Set, you can add two authentically designed special-purpose cars to your H0 layout, just like those used in heavy industrial operations starting in the mid-1950s. The copper-brown paint scheme with realistic wear and tear and the functional design make this set the ideal addition to a blast furnace train.
Slag cars are special transport cars designed to carry the slag produced during the blast furnace process—the hot, liquid waste product of steel production. The cars feature large pans that can be tilted to the side to empty the slag into pits or containers. In industrial facilities, particularly in the Ruhr region, such cars were indispensable.
The set consists of two special-purpose cars with sturdy metal frames. The slag pans can not only be tilted to the side but are also removable—ideal for realistic operational scenarios. The copper-brown paint finish features authentic-looking wear marks, giving the model a particularly realistic appearance.
Combines perfectly with other industrial and blast furnace freight cars from the Märklin lineup—e.g., 46014, 46047, 46221, and 48678—as well as the matching BR 80 steam locomotive (Item No. 37066). For realistic layout projects, the Faller Blast Furnace 2 kit is recommended as an authentic backdrop.
Two slag cars with tilting and removable pans, metal frames, and signs of aging. Each car is individually packaged and additionally protected by sturdy outer packaging. Length per car: 10.8 cm.
The Märklin 46146 Slag Car Set impresses with its functionality, authenticity, and high-quality craftsmanship—a must-have for realistic blast furnace and industrial railroad scenes. Get yours now and add a sizzling detail to your layout!
