The Märklin 46486 tank car brings authentic international flair to your H0 layout. The model depicts a two-axle tank car from British Petroleum (BP) Denmark, assigned to the Danish State Railways (DSB), as it appeared in 1954—a perfect addition to freight trains with a Scandinavian theme in Era III.
In the 1950s, BP Denmark was a major player in Denmark’s petroleum transportation sector. Registered with the DSB, riveted tank cars like this one were used nationwide—whether for refinery deliveries or supplying gas stations. Typical features included the riveted tank, the brakeman’s platform without a brakeman’s cab, and the compact design.
The model features an openwork, finely detailed undercarriage. Numerous separately attached components—such as the handbrake crank, brake system, drain pipes, and a work platform with access ladder—ensure a prototypical appearance. The attached brakeman’s platform without a brakeman’s cab is typical of this car type. Sliding-guide close couplers enable a tight, realistic connection within the train set.
The car is designed for the Märklin AC system but can also be operated on DC layouts with the separately available E700580 DC wheel set. With a length of 10.1 cm, the car is ideal for branch line operations, shunting scenes, or international freight trains.
Included is a BP/DSB tank car featuring a riveted tank design, a detailed undercarriage, a brakeman’s platform, attached components, and a slide-guided close-coupling. DC wheel set sold separately.
The Märklin 46486 is the perfect choice for fans of international trains and historic petroleum transport—a highly detailed model for Era III layouts with authentic character.
