The Märklin 47230 Sliding-Tarpaulin Freight Car Set adds two modern Shimmns-type freight cars to your H0 layout. These four-axle cars, registered in the Netherlands and owned by Ermewa SA, are depicted in their 2010 operational condition and are used for the reliable transport of weather-sensitive steel products in European rail freight traffic.

The Prototype – Efficient Cargo Protection in Steel Transport

Shimmns-type sliding-tarpaulin freight cars are used to transport coils, sheet metal, and other steel products. The sliding tarps reliably protect the cargo from the elements, while the robust construction enables quick loading and unloading. The cars in the set feature the livery of Ermewa SA—a freight car leasing company operating throughout Europe.

Model – Detailed, Sturdy, and Versatile

Both cars feature closed tarps and are equipped with detailed Y25-type bogies, including double brake blocks. Different car numbers also make the set attractive for multiple-car use within a train. The length over buffers is approximately 13.8 cm per car. Each car is individually packaged and comes in additional outer packaging—ideal for collectors and safe transport.

Technical Specifications & Compatibility

The set is designed for the Märklin AC system. For DC modelers, the matching E700580 wheel set is available separately. The cars can be combined perfectly with modern freight locomotives and other freight cars from eras V–VI.
