With the Märklin 48678 heavy-duty flatcar, you can add a sturdy Deutsche Bundesbahn flatcar from the mid-1950s to your H0 layout. The SSym 46 model, finished in jet-black paint, is loaded with solid steel slabs and is perfect for depicting the transport of heavy industrial goods—such as in blast furnace operations or at railroad construction sites.
The DB’s SSym cars were designed for particularly heavy or bulky freight such as machinery, tank parts, castings, or steel slabs. Thanks to their robust chassis and low loading height, they could also be used for internal plant traffic, for example in the steel industry.
The car is made of metal, and its heavy weight ensures smooth running characteristics. The included plug-in stanchions allow for flexible configuration depending on the loading scenario. The included steel slabs look solid and realistic—ideal for industrial facilities or blast furnace trains.
This heavy-duty car combines excellently with other blast furnace and industrial freight cars, such as those from the Märklin lineup (Item Nos. 37066, 46014, 46047, 46146, 46221). The “Blast Furnace 2” kit from Faller (anniversary model) provides the perfect backdrop for such heavy-haul trains.
The car is designed for the Märklin AC system but can also be used on DC layouts with the E700580 DC wheel set. The length over buffers is 15.2 cm.
One SSym 46 heavy-haul car with black paint finish, insertable stanchions, and realistically designed steel slab cargo. DC wheel set E700580 sold separately.
The Märklin 48678 offers a realistic depiction of heavy-haul transport from the 1950s—ideal for prototypical industrial and blast furnace scenarios on an H0 layout.
