Description

When milk goes on a journey

Accompanying the milk wagons in the past could be a draughty and exhausting job. In addition to the constant work with 40 l milk cans, the generous gaps between the wooden boards on the ends ensured that the wind could whistle through the interior of the car.

Prototype: 2 Bavarian type covered milk cars on the German Federal Railroad (DB). Cars from the first delivery in 1908 with flat roofs. Both cars still have DR lettering from the British-US zone. Used for general cargo and for transporting fresh milk. Operating condition around 1952/53.
