Märklin 87183 Z Passenger Car Set "Karlsruher Kopf" - DB AG, Era V with LED Headlights

With the Märklin 87183, Märklin is presenting for the first time a classic Era V silver car set in Z scale (1:220). The three-piece set shows typical Deutsche Bahn AG commuter cars in the modern appearance of the 1990s - including the distinctive cab control car with the legendary "Karlsruhe Head".

Included are three vehicles printed in detail:

• 2nd class commuter car (Bn 719)
• 1st/2nd class commuter car (ABn 703)
• Control car BDnrzf 740 with road number 50 80 82-34 083-9 (today preserved in the DB Museum Koblenz)

A highlight of the set is the cab control car with LED triple headlights. It is equipped with 3 x white / 2 x red LED lighting that changes automatically depending on the direction of travel. This gives the model an impressive appearance both in operation and in the display case.

All of the cars are equipped with close coupling hooks and can be easily integrated into existing train formations. With an overall length of approx. 365 mm, the set is an ideal complement to the class 143 electric locomotive (Märklin 88434) or other matching DB AG locomotives in Z scale. It can also be perfectly combined with the Märklin 87163 set.

The silver locomotives in Era V design have modern DB logos and the corresponding car numbers and reflect the condition of typical local trains on the German Railroad in the 1990s. This makes this set an enrichment for any Z layout with a focus on realistic Era V local transport.
