The Märklin 88022 brings an unusual vehicle to your Z scale layout: the German Federal Railroad Vomag rail truck, based on a production truck from Vogtländische Maschinenfabrik AG. This model is a completely new construction on a scale of 1:220 and is a special highlight for collectors, company railroaders, and friends of rare Era III vehicles.
In the 1930s and 40s, the Deutsche Reichsbahn experimented with roadworthy trucks on rails. The goal was to create inexpensive vehicles for light shunting and construction work. The vehicles only had buffer beams, coupling rods and rail wheels - but were otherwise close to series production. The Deutsche Bundesbahn used some of these vehicles, painted in attractive red, in the Hamburg area until around 1960.
The model has drive on both axles with a powerful bell-type armature motor. The warm LED headlights and the finely reproduced, dark nickel-plated rail wheels provide an authentic look. The superstructure and buffer beams are detailed, including replicas of the sand boxes and sand pipes. The tarpaulin is made of cast bronze, the superstructure of metal-filled plastic - for a realistic feel and weight.
The vehicle measures approx. 50 mm over buffers. Thanks to its robust construction and fine engineering, it is suitable for display case presentations as well as for operation on the layout - for example in shunting service or as a towing vehicle for a single freight wagon.
A German Federal Railroad Vomag 5 t rail truck in Era III condition with a bell-type armature motor, LED headlights, metal-filled body, and cast bronze tarpaulin.
The Märklin 88022 is a unique collector's item and operating model at the same time - a real eye-catcher on every Z-gauge layout.
