Märklin 88987 Z steam locomotive BR 55, DR, Ep. IV Product Details

Description

Rugged Freight Train Power from Germany - Märklin Z Steam Locomotive DR Class 55

With the Märklin 88987 you can get a classic freight steam locomotive on a scale of 1:220 on your layout: the DR class 55 - still in service in Era IV. Equipped with a bell-shaped armature motor, LED lighting and fine linkage, it is a must for Z railroaders with an appreciation for historic tractive power.

The prototype - The tried and tested BR 55 under the German flag

The class 55 (Prussian G 8.1) was one of the most frequently built freight locomotives of its time. Even after the Second World War, many European railroad companies - including the DR - took over numerous locomotives for their rolling stock. With the 3T 16.5 tender and classic black paintwork, it was versatile on branch lines and main lines.

Model - Compact, precise and powerful

The model impresses with its finely crafted, fully functional linkage as well as the imitation brakes. The powerful bell-shaped armature motor ensures smooth running and pulls even longer freight trains effortlessly. All driving axles are powered.

Lighting & Technology

A two-light headlight with warm white LEDs is mounted on the locomotive and changes depending on the direction of travel. The compact dimensions make the locomotive ideal for smaller layouts or tight radii.
