The Minitrix 11170 N "Leisure Express" digital starter set is a comprehensive starter set for model railroaders who want to go directly into digital operation. The set combines a class 218 multi-purpose locomotive with two commuter cars and also contains the appropriate basic digital equipment for operation. This means that you not only get vehicles, but also control, power supply and track material in one package.
The prototype for the locomotive is the Deutsche Bahn AG 218 425-7 multi-purpose locomotive. It is a diesel-hydraulic locomotive with a roof design suitable for the MTU 12V 956 TB 11 engine. The locomotive is described with parallel exhaust nozzles and a Behr cooling system in V-shape. The train is supplemented by 2 Deutsche Bahn AG type Bduu 497.2 commuter cars.
The model of the locomotive has a die-cast metal chassis. A digital decoder and a sound generator for operation with mfx and DCC are installed. This means that the locomotive is prepared for digital operation and also offers sound functions via the integrated sound generator.
The motor is equipped with a flywheel. A total of 4 axles are driven and traction tires are also included. This information shows that the locomotive in the set is technically designed for driving operation. The headlights and marker lights change over with the direction of travel and are designed with warm white LEDs.
Another feature of the locomotive is the digitally switchable cab lighting. This gives the model an additional lighting function that can be used in digital operation. The lighting equipment also includes headlights and marker lights that change with the direction of travel.
