The Orz IId self-unloading car of the Deutsche Reichsbahn (DRG) is a classic example of rail freight transport from Era II. Designed for transporting iron ore, this car stands out thanks to its robust construction and prototypical details. The N-scale model brings historic ore transport to your model railroad layout and impresses with its authentic load of real iron ore.
The four-axle open self-unloading Erz IId car of the OOt Saarbrücken type (later OOtz 43) was developed specifically for transporting heavy bulk goods such as iron ore. With its medium-height body and brakeman’s platform, it was a reliable and efficient vehicle for the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the 1930s. The pressed-sheet-metal bogies of the standard design ensured high stability and load-bearing capacity.
The N-scale model of the Erz IId impresses with its precise reproduction. The medium-height body, the brakeman’s platform with a front-mounted control wheel, and the highly detailed stamped-sheet bogies make this model particularly realistic. The load of real iron ore in scale-accurate grain size underscores its authenticity and makes the car a showstopper on any model railroad layout.
With a length over buffers of 64 mm, the car is perfectly proportioned and integrates seamlessly into historic train formations. The model is individually packaged in display 15013 and is ideal for collectors and model railroaders who want to recreate Era II freight transport.
Era II (1920–1945) is characterized by the standardization and expansion of rail freight transport. Cars like the Erz IId played a central role in transporting raw materials that were essential for industry. This model brings the atmosphere of that time to your model railroad layout and enables realistic scenarios of Reichsbahn freight transport.
The model impresses with its prototypical design. The medium-height upper body, the finely detailed brakeman’s platform with front handwheel, and the stamped-sheet-metal bogies are precisely reproduced. The realistic loading with genuine iron ore lends the car a special authenticity and makes it a highlight in any freight train formation.
The Erz IId self-unloading car can be combined perfectly with other cars of this type to depict realistic ore transports. Complemented by historic steam locomotives and other freight cars from Era II, this model offers versatile usage options.
The model is durable and easy to maintain. Regular cleaning of the wheels and couplers ensures trouble-free operation. The high-quality craftsmanship guarantees a long service life and consistently high quality.
The Erz IId 15013-04 self-unloading car is a highly detailed model that authentically depicts the historical freight transport of the Deutsche Reichsbahn. With its realistic load, true-to-prototype design, and excellent craftsmanship, it is a perfect addition to any Era II N-scale model railroad layout. Whether as a single car or part of a train set—this car impresses across the board.
