About the original: With the model of the class 111, Minitrix offers a locomotive that is used in a wide variety of areas of passenger transportation. In the Rhine-Ruhr area in the 1980s, this included S-Bahn traffic, in most cases local and regional traffic, but the locomotives were also used for heavy long-distance passenger traffic. A total of 227 locomotives were produced between 1974 and 1984. The majority of the class 111s were still in service until the late 2000s. During the 2010s, various locomotives were taken out of service due to the end of their service life and some were sold to private railroad companies. However, some models still received new main inspections and are used to make up for missing capacity.
About the model: With this model, Minitrix is offering a conversion of the early operating condition of the locomotives from Era IV with a beige, blue paint scheme in the service of the DB. The model has a precise die-cast zinc body that perfectly reproduces the structural characteristics of the locomotive body. The appearance is completed by a detailed chassis and a number of filigree, true-to-original components, such as grab irons and pantographs. A motor with flywheel mass drives all 4 axles, ensuring excellent running characteristics and a great power transmission. A sound decoder enables the use of various light and sound functions which, thanks to a high-quality sound generator, can impress with a clear, powerful and true-to-original sound.
