In the 1950s and 1960s, many of these locomotives were modernized in the course of reconstruction measures, whereby they received welded water boxes and technical modifications to optimize their performance. The model in the kit faithfully reproduces this "Reko version".
Era III (1945-1970) and Era IV (1970-1990) are important periods for the development of the railroad in Germany. While Era III focused on the reconstruction and repair of the infrastructure, Era IV was characterized by modernization measures and the introduction of new technologies. The VI K Reko reflects this development and was equipped with improved technical features as part of the reconstruction in order to meet the requirements of narrow gauge operation in the GDR.

A sound decoder (4 x 7.8 x 25 mm) and a loudspeaker (11 x 15 x 9 mm) can be integrated as an option to add realistic sounds to the model.
The model is designed for operation with 12 V direct current (DC) and can be used on narrow track radii from 195 mm. This makes the kit ideal for compact narrow-gauge layouts. Modellbau Veit's own coupling system ensures a secure connection with other vehicles.

The finished locomotive is designed for the TTe gauge and is therefore on a scale of 1:120. With a minimum radius of just 195 mm, the locomotive is ideal for narrow-gauge layouts with tight track layouts. The power system is based on 2-wire direct current (DC) and is compatible with most common model railroad systems.
The kit contains all the components required to build the VI K Reko 99 1715-4. A detailed assembly manual with step-by-step instructions makes assembly easier. Technical information and care instructions are also included. The kit is supplied in sturdy packaging to protect the components during transportation.
