The Modellbau Veit 71952 Zillertalbahn steam locomotive no. 4 is a unique replica of a legendary steam locomotive that has lived through an eventful history. Originally built by Borsig in 1939, it was designed as a prototype for five-coupled locomotives for army field railroads. It was later fitted with a trailing tender and served on small railroads in Austria until 1984 before being sold to Germany. Today it is known as the "Aquarius C.". The model represents the later version of No. 4 of the Zillertalbahn, which was also loaned to the Bregenzer Waldbahn.
The real steam locomotive no. 4 was developed during the Second World War as a robust and powerful locomotive for army field railroads. Its design was characterized by a five-coupled axle arrangement, which ensured high tractive power on narrow-gauge lines. After the war, it was operated as a tender locomotive, but was later fitted with a trailing tender in order to cover longer distances efficiently. This locomotive saw a long period of service in Austria before finding a new home in Germany.
The Zillertalbahn is one of Austria's best-known narrow-gauge railroads and still runs between Jenbach and Mayrhofen today.
