The Piko 21080 is a successful model realization of the compact but powerful CSD class 110 shunting locomotive, which was originally put into service as the S 458.0. The model shows the locomotive in the condition of Era IV - with typical Czechoslovakian State Railroad lettering and lovingly implemented details such as a clear view through the driver's cab, filigree handles, heating plugs and extra coupling hooks.
From 1973 to 1983, a total of 74 of these locomotives were delivered to the CSD, primarily for use in shunting service and for light line work under overhead wire. Many of these robust locomotives are still in active service with CD and ZSSK Cargo today - proof of their technical reliability. With this 2026 novelty, PIKO is bringing a model to the H0 layout that is particularly impressive due to its precision in detail and technical maturity.
The locomotive is designed for direct current operation and has a PluX22 digital interface in accordance with NEM 658, making it ready for the uncomplicated installation of a digital or sound decoder (e.g. PIKO sound decoder #56662). Two traction tires ensure reliable power transmission in shunting and transfer traffic.
The locomotive has a white/red light change depending on the direction of travel as well as an illuminated driver's desk. The driver's cab lighting can also be switched in digital mode - a special feature that is particularly effective when running at night or in the depot.
The model features many fine elements: a clear view through the driver's cab, filigree spring assemblies, handles, steps and a replica of the original aerial. The locomotive frame is of the finest casting quality and all the printing is razor-sharp. The NEM shafts with close coupler link ensure a clean connection with other cars.
With a length over buffers of 165 mm, the locomotive is also ideally suited for smaller layouts. The minimum radius is 358 mm, which allows flexible use in all common H0 layout systems.
CSD used the class S 458.0 from 1973 onwards on stations, transfer lines and light passenger trains. It was renamed class 210 in 1988. After the division of Czechoslovakia in 1993, the locomotives remained with the new railroad companies CD and ZSR. Many are still in use today and are a symbol of Czechoslovakian electrical engineering of the 1970s.
The scope of delivery includes the Piko 21080 BR 110 CSD electric locomotive, instructions and accessories for optical detailing. The locomotive can be retrofitted with analog and digital ex works.
The locomotive is ideal for model railroaders with a historical focus on Central Europe, especially on the operation of the CSD in Era IV. Thanks to its compact dimensions and realistic level of detail, it is equally suitable for collectors, shunting enthusiasts and fans of Eastern European railroad history.
With the Piko 21080 BR 110 CSD, get an unmistakable model of Czechoslovakian railroad history on your H0 tracks. Secure it now - the perfect model for all those who rely on authentic shunting and track service!
