Historical prototype of the class 111

The class 111 was introduced in the 1970s as the modern successor to the class 110. With a top speed of 160 km/h, it met the requirements of local and long-distance transportation at the time. The locomotives with train destination displays and eye-catching colors were used particularly in the S-Bahn area of the Rhine-Ruhr region - a characteristic image of Era IV.
