The Piko Rh 240 ČD Cargo brings a particularly striking locomotive from Czech railroad history to the H0 tracks. With its pleasing, rounded design and the fiberglass-reinforced locomotive body, the Rh 240 is one of the characteristic locomotives of the modern ČD Cargo fleet - now as a finely detailed model for Era VI.

Technology & appearance - detailed and digitally upgradeable

The model impresses with two metal pantographs, finely detailed bogies and transparent skylights in the engine room. The cab, engine room and console lighting can be switched digitally when retrofitting a PluX22 decoder. The light changes depending on the direction of travel for a realistic appearance in operation.

Prototype: S 499 - fiberglass body with tractive power

145 units of the S 499 were delivered to the Czechoslovakian State Railroad (ČSD) starting in 1968. A special feature was the locomotive body made of fiberglass-reinforced plastic - a technical innovation at the time. Today, these locomotives are used by ČD Cargo for freight transport as the 240 series and represent proven technology with a timeless design.

Operation & compatibility

The locomotive is suitable for H0 DC layouts with a minimum radius of 358 mm. The model can be easily digitized via the NEM 658 PluX22 interface - including optional retrofitting with the PIKO sound decoder #56586. The close coupling set ensures smooth train connections in modern layouts.
